Purpose
As the Art Director and Visual Designer at 🔗 Mr. Bao US 🔗. The Mr. BaoUS identity was designed to stand out in a competitive NYC dining market by visually blending traditional Chinese motifs with a modern aesthetic. My job was to bring all this together visually, ensuring the restaurant's brand and design matched the upscale yet fast-casual vibe we wanted to create, blending the ocean-to-table freshness with a modern touch.

Mr Bao Variant Logo Design
In Mr. Bao's logo morphing design, “water” is an important design basis. Therefore, in the sticker design derived from the illustration, Mr. Bao chose to use “water” as a starting point for evolution and creation. While showing the relationship between Mr. Bao and “water”, it also makes the illustration stickers have a certain sense of beauty and story.
Points
In the design of Mr. Bao's variant logo, the shape of the original logo should be retained (consistent with the direction of the brand's trademark registration). Therefore, the design focuses on the background of the sticker and the overlapping part of the logo, adding elements of abalone products.

Mr Bao Gift Box Design
The design is inspired by the shape of a circular magnet. Abalone and sea wave elements are incorporated to emphasize the association with Mr. Bao. Additionally, the bowl motif is integrated into the design to represent the food products. The color palette is inspired by the South African flag, adding a vibrant and meaningful touch to the design.
Murals
Mr Bao Restaurant Murals
It took over a month to complete painting this one 24x12-foot wall and two walls (10x12-foot). The three mural sets draw ideas from the brand’s packaging illustrations, incorporating abalone and South African elements. The designs are inspired by the seafaring harvest of abalone, highlighting the freshness of Mr. Bao’s products and their direct sales from South African. The vibrant, bold colors reflect the restaurant’s lively and cheerful atmosphere, creating a visually striking and welcoming environment.
